Diana Claxton is a proud member of the Cowichan Tribes, raised in Tsawout, and a transformative Indigenous leader whose career is defined by cultural resilience and a commitment to systemic impact. As the daughter of two residential school survivors, Diana’s professional journey has come full circle at BC Place, where she serves as the Premium Business Development Manager. In this role, she leverages one of the province’s most prominent platforms to amplify Indigenous voices and foster genuine, lasting reconciliation.
Most notably, Diana secured the large-scale provincial graduation in partnership with the Orange Shirt Society—an initiative deeply rooted in restorative justice and community healing. With over 20 years of experience, Diana’s background spans 14 years in hospitality leadership and six years in Fine Wine Account Management, underpinned by a WSET Level 3 Advanced Diploma. This foundation in world-class service was the direct catalyst for her current work at BC Place, where she collaborates cross-functionally to elevate premium guest experiences through a lens of cultural inclusion.
A graduate of Royal Roads University (BCom, Entrepreneurial Management) and Camosun College, Diana also integrates her dedication to holistic wellness as a certified Mat Pilates Instructor through ALL Studio specializing in trauma-informed movement. Her commitment to fitness is an ancestral tribute, rooted in the legacy of her late father, Darrell Thorne—a celebrated soccer player, hunter, and fisherman. For Diana, movement is a tool for healing generational trauma and a vehicle for finding the voice necessary to drive systemic change.
